Transform Your Photography

KOKOindia proudly invites you to join us for a Travel Photography Retreat with internationally acclaimed Environmental Documentary Photographer, Peter Caton. This intensive and in-depth course is open to everyone with a Digital SLR and a genuine passion for photography.

The course centres around two incredible locations in Rajasthan, one of India’s most strikingly photogenic of regions. Against a rich backdrop of ancient towns and desert landscapes, Peter will teach you not only how to dramatically improve your photographic skills, but also how to understand and analyse your own images to bring a professional quality to your work.

With an international photojournalism career spanning more than fifteen years, British-born Peter continues to return to the Indian sub-continent to document the subjects, people and places closest to his heart. Travelling in a country as diverse and exciting as India is a never ending source of inspiration to the photographer, and the Hindu love of vivid colour in particular is a joy to work with.

“Modern day reportage is constantly evolving, and along with my trusty Digital Hasselblad I enjoy taking the techniques of high end studio lighting into the colour documentary arena. This helps bring an important contemporary feel to some of the world’s most pressing and contemporary issues - issues that deserve to be documented with compassion and flair to capture the viewer’s fullest attention.”

Peter’s love and knowledge of ‘the real India’ and its people is unsurpassable, giving students an extraordinary insight into how to develop their photography in a unique and challenging way.

Your retreat will begin in the ancient city of Delhi, before moving ‘off the beaten track’ to far eastern Rajasthan. Here, we will spend a few days in a grand Nobleman’s Palace just outside Nawalgarh - an unspoilt market town dubbed ‘The Living Art Gallery of Rajasthan’ for its many finely decorated merchant mansions. The peaceful and natural environs of the Palace offer a chance to both relax and focus your lens, whilst exploring themes such as Wildlife and Architecture.

After a magical night on Safari with a Royal Camp to cover the themes of Landscape and Lighting, we will move to the famous holy town of Pushkar. From our base in a luxurious tented Eco-Resort, you will learn to develop your photographic techniques in Portraiture and Movement, with the opportunity to spend quality time with a host of colourful local characters as ‘portrait subjects.’ There will also be an incredible evening in the desert to photograph our own exclusive Gypsy Dance, with musicians to accompany dinner. We will end our retreat in the Pink City of Jaipur, from where further private tours will be available.
